Express Entry

Express Entry

Express Entry is Canada’s flagship immigration system for skilled workers. Designed for efficiency, transparency, and speed, the Express Entry system offers eligible candidates a fast and reliable pathway to Canadian permanent residency — often within 6 months or less.
Whether you’re a skilled professional, a Canadian-educated graduate, or someone with Canadian work experience, Express Entry could be your route to living and working in Canada.

What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is an online application system used by the Canadian government to manage immigration applications under three key economic immigration programs:

Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Additionally, many Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are linked to Express Entry, giving provinces the ability to select candidates from the pool who match their labor market needs.

How Express Entry Works

1. Check Eligibility
Determine if you meet the criteria for one of the three Express Entry programs based on:

Age
Education
Work experience
Language proficiency (English/French)
Adaptability factors (e.g., spouse’s background, Canadian ties)

2. Create Your Express Entry Profile
Once eligible, you can create an online profile and enter the Express Entry pool of candidates.

3. Get a CRS Score
Your profile is ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which assigns points for factors like:

Age
Education
Work experience
Language test results (IELTS, CELPIP, or TEF)
Job offers or provincial nominations

4. Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA)
IRCC conducts regular draws to invite the highest-scoring candidates to apply for permanent residency.

5. Apply for Permanent Residency
If you receive an ITA, you have 60 days to submit your PR application online. Most applications are processed in 6 months or less.
