Who is Eligible for the Start-Up Visa?
To qualify, you must

  • Have a qualifying business where you hold at least 10% ownership, and the designated organization holds more than 50% of voting rights
  • Obtain a letter of support from a designated organization (venture capital fund, angel investor group, or business incubator) confirming their investment or acceptance
    • Meet language proficiency requirements in English or French (CLB 5 or higher)
    Have enough settlement funds to support yourself and your family in Canada
    Intend to actively manage the business in Canada

    Develop a Business Idea: Prepare a detailed and innovative business plan.
    Secure Support: Pitch your idea to a designated organization and receive a Letter of Support.
    Apply for Permanent Residency: Submit your Start-Up Visa application along with the Letter of Support, language test results, and proof of funds.
    Processing and Decision: Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) reviews your application.
