TRV Sticker

TRV Sticker

The Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), commonly known as the visa sticker, is the official document placed in your passport that allows you to travel to Canada as a visitorstudent, or worker. This is a document that allows individuals, including workers and students, to enter and stay in Canada for a temporary period.
If you leave Canada, you may need a valid TRV to return—even if your Visitor Record is still active.

Who Needs a TRV?
You need a TRV if:

You are from a country that requires a visa to enter Canada
You are approved for a study permit or work permit, but live in a visa-required country
You plan to visit Canada temporarily and are not eligible for an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization)

How to Get a TRV Sticker
You receive the TRV:

After your visa application is approved
By submitting your passport to a Visa Application Centre (VAC) for visa stamping
