TRV Sticker
The Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), commonly known as the visa sticker, is the official document placed in your passport that allows you to travel to Canada as a visitor, student, or worker. This is a document that allows individuals, including workers and students, to enter and stay in Canada for a temporary period.
If you leave Canada, you may need a valid TRV to return—even if your Visitor Record is still active.
Who Needs a TRV?
You need a TRV if:
You are from a country that requires a visa to enter Canada
You are approved for a study permit or work permit, but live in a visa-required country
You plan to visit Canada temporarily and are not eligible for an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization)
How to Get a TRV Sticker
You receive the TRV:
After your visa application is approved
By submitting your passport to a Visa Application Centre (VAC) for visa stamping
